While there is no place like home (ok, Walt Disney World) for the holidays, we have discovered that we enjoy a quick getaway for Halloween as well. The "Not So Scary Halloween Party" is such a joyful time, when we can be kids again, trick-or-treating through the Magic Kingdom, wearing costumes, and really living in the moment for one (very long!) night.
So, this year's "Mouse Suicide Run," as we've come to know these 4 day trips, began on Thurday morning. With a 6 AM departure, breakfast courtesy of Caitlin and Hannah, we were on our way from Hobby Airport to Orlando.
Upon arrival, we discovered some very long lines at Disney's Magical Express, which was a bit frustrating. Text messages to friends kept me occupied, while the others made a coffee run back to Starbucks, and by 11:00 AM we were arriving at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
A quick change, and we're off to the Magic Kingdom for an evening of fun at the Halloween Party!
